Greif-Velox is continuing its international expansion. The packaging machine manufacturer is now working with distribution and project partner Illies, a company specializing in the marketing of high-quality machinery and systems in Asia. With this partnership, Greif-Velox is tapping into its potential in global growth markets like Japan, Thailand and South Korea.
“In Illies, we have found a partner that perfectly complements Greif-Velox’s expertise in the Asian market,” said Sebastian Pohl, Director of Sales at Greif-Velox. “With its presence in Asia, Illies has the right level of access to customers on the ground while Greif-Velox has the innovative machine technology and application expertise that the market wants.”
According to figures from the Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e. V. (German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association – VDMA), the number of packaging machine exports to Asia in 2019 increased by approximately 16% due to growing demand. The pandemic in 2020 put a damper on this growth, but it is now once again trending upward.
As a global market leader in bagging systems for ultra-light powders such as carbon black and silica, Greif-Velox can count on Illies as a real specialist for target markets. Already in its fifth generation, the Hamburg-based company has been acting as an interface between global technology leaders of the manufacturing industry and the Asian markets.
“Listening, finding ways, and building bridges – that is what we do, and we are very happy to be doing it for Greif-Velox in Japan, Thailand and South Korea,” said CEO C. Michael Illies.
With 13 branches in Asia, Illies has a broad base to work from and also offers a comprehensive after-sales service structure.
“We are very pleased with the positive feedback we have received from the customers we have already approached,” said Pohl. “We know that the key to success is being on the ground near customers with distribution and services.”
