Your competitive advantages: The 6 Greif-Velox Key Success Drivers

Sustainability, cleanliness, efficiency, quality, performance and availability - which of these drivers has the greatest influence on your business success? Each of our machines is designed to create measurable competitive advantages for our customers - be it in solid or liquid filling, in the chemical, petrochemical or food industries. For and together with our customers, we develop groundbreaking innovations that create a competitive advantage through efficient processes and reliable machines.
The Greif-Velox Key Success Drivers are:
Sustainability
At Greif-Velox, sustainability means: a reduction in the CO2 footprint through the targeted use of efficient and waste-preventing technologies.
The Greif-Velox VeloVac, the vacuum system for ultra-light powders, makes these savings particularly tangible:
- Savings in storage and logistics costs of up to 75 percent, because the compact bagging means the bags are compressed by up to 400 percent
- Avoidance of product losses through dust-free filling in a closed vacuum chamber
- Faster and CO2-saving service and maintenance through remote applications
- Optimization of process flows and optimization of Replacement cycles for wear parts by evaluating the process data from sensor and process-controlled components, such as the blades of the smartValvoCut
Cleanliness
Clean systems protect the operating personnel, prevent contamination and enable efficient processes.
The Greif-Velox BVP air packer, for example, offers the following options:
- “Clean in Place” (CIP): Fast and efficient product changes with minimal time and product loss using wet cleaning or complete emptying functions
- Thanks to complete emptying, only 2-5 grams of residual product remain in the packer, which can be emptied from the vessel within a few seconds
- Greif-Velox ValvoSeal WaffleWelding: No contamination of production and protection of the product thanks to a 60 percent stronger closure of the bags with multiple sealing lines
Efficiency
To increase the efficiency of our systems, we consider all factors influencing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) during the development of the system concept.
Availability, performance and product quality are particularly important here:
- Minimization of downtimes and set-up times through predictive maintenance, storable process parameters and automatically adjustable machines (an example is the automatic bag chair adjustment of our BVP air packer)
- Maximization of process speed with as few interruptions as possible, e.g. wear parts optimized through downtimes, which can be replaced as part of regular maintenance work
- Avoidance of rejects through self-optimizing control circuits between the checkweigher and the bagging machine
Quality
We have developed various features for our customers to sustainably reduce COPQ (Cost Of Poor Quality).
These include:
- Our Greif-Velox ValvoDetect systems sort out potentially faulty bags before they can cause contamination on the pallet, which results in potential savings of around 60,000 euros[1] per year:
- Before the empty bag is attached, ValvoDetect-S Save checks the valve. Bags that have been produced incorrectly are discarded and can be claimed from the bag manufacturer.
- ValvoDetect-C Clean checks the correct positioning of the valve in the sealing station. Bags that are not positioned correctly are rejected; the filled product can be fed back into the filling process and the palletizing of incompletely sealed bags is avoided.
- No transport risk and no interruption of the logistics chain due to gassing containers: The fully automatic screwing tool of the Greif-Velox A-DOS-C IBC filling system combines a screw-in depth measurement with a torque measurement for a firm and correct screwing of the lids. This minimizes potential costs of around 20,000 euros due to the use of hazardous goods due to the outgassing of incompletely sealed containers.
Performance
Bagging and filling performance are the most important lever for company success for many customers. Our goal is to optimize our systems so that a high output is achieved with consistently high quality.
We achieve this goal through precisely executed sub-processes. This applies to both our solids bagging and our liquids filling systems:
- Increase in bagging performance thanks to the 99.5 percent reliable attachment rate of our Greif-Velox Valvomat S1 & IV attachment machines
- Maximum speed and highest accuracy thanks to the bunghole recognition of our A-Dos-P1 pallet filling system: Simultaneous processing of all containers on a pallet in the Bunghole Recognition Identification System (BRIS) with digital full-screen camera
Availability
The shortest possible downtime is another important factor for high overall equipment effectiveness and the efficient operation of packaging systems. The service life of our machines is often more than 20 years.
We enable maximum availability and minimal downtime through:
- Fast troubleshooting using VPN remote office: Thanks to a secure VPN connection, our experts at any location in the world can connect directly to your system, troubleshoot errors or help optimize processes. In more than 90 percent of cases, this method can avoid the costly and time-consuming deployment of a service technician.
- Worldwide deployment of our service technicians in cooperation with our strategically placed sales and service partners in the most important countries and regions
- Rapid availability of spare parts through a high proportion of in-house production and the use of established, globally available standard components
